Encompass Release Naming Conventions

The software industry can be one of constant change. New functionality, ongoing enhancements, compliance updates, and bug fixes are all necessary ingredients to keeping ICE Mortgage Technology’s software solutions innovative and beneficial to our clients and partners. Here is ICE Mortgage Technology's ongoing release strategy and schedule:

  • Major Release
    • Delivered four times a year (for example, Encompass 20.1, Encompass 20.2)
    • Communication Timeframe: 4-6 weeks prior to release
    • Includes in-depth documentation resources and training
  • Service Pack
    • Scheduled monthly update. Service Packs are released every month except for those months when a Major Release is provided.
    • Communication Timeframe: 1 week prior to release
    • Includes in-depth documentation resources
  • Critical Patch
    • Unplanned update that addresses an urgent defect and/or compliance change
    • Communication Timeframe: Within 24 hours or less of release
    • Includes in-depth documentation resources

All three release communication types: Major Releases, Service Packs, and Critical Patches are sent to named contacts, system admins, and decision makers.

Important Note: Certain Service Pack and Critical Patch releases are always applied to your users' computers automatically and cannot be controlled manually via the Encompass Version Manager tool. Typically these are releases that include critical compliance or feature updates, or changes to the Encompass Server that result in a new Encompass version number. Release communications will indicate if the Service Pack or Critical Patch will be applied automatically and if an Encompass SDK upgrade is required*.

Using the Encompass Version Manager you can configure controllable Service Pack and Critical Patch releases to be applied to your users' computers automatically or you can choose to manually approve each applicable release before it is applied. Only those Service Pack and Critical Patch releases that are not applied automatically will be available for manual approval. It is recommended that all releases be applied in a timely manner.

SDK Information:

*For any Major Release or Service Pack release that includes changes to the Encompass Server that results in a new Encompass version number, the Encompass SDK run time environment must be upgraded to match the newly updated Encompass Server. If you fail to upgrade the SDK your application will not be permitted to connect to the updated Encompass Server.

Additional Enhancements & Updates:

All updates and enhancements are planned for and guided by the ICE Mortgage Technology product road map and delivered through our stringent release process outlined above. ICE Mortgage Technology’s current focus is to ensure URLA functionality is delivered across the platform well before the mandate date, expanding our already robust HELOC solution, continuing to add workflow automation to drive loan efficiencies, providing consumer engagement solutions to bring in more borrowers, and continuing the transformation of Encompass to the web with Encompass for loan officers already available. ICE Mortgage Technology has a very active User Forum with an Idea Center where clients submit ideas and requests that peers vote on to help guide the product road map.
